SJ Personnel is a leading HR consultancy supporting businesses nationally with compliance, workforce planning, and risk management. We are seeking a highly organised and proactive HR & Safety Assistant to support the delivery of our HR consulting, Work Health & Safety (WHS) compliance, and employment relations projects.

About the Role

This position supports a broad range of generalist HR and WHS activities, including policy development, compliance audits, industrial relations administration, employee documentation, and safety system support. The role offers flexibility to work from home or from our North Geelong location. It is suited to someone who thrives on accuracy, structure, and managing priorities in a fast‑paced business environment.

Key Responsibilities

- Prepare and update HR documentation including employment contracts, policies, position descriptions, and disciplinary letters.

- Support HR compliance activities such as award interpretation, entitlement calculations, and record‑keeping obligations.

- Assist with WHS program delivery including registers, risk assessments, inductions, and incident reporting documentation.

- Maintain accurate employee files and HRIS records (e.g. onboarding, licensing, qualifications, VEVO checks).

- Undertake research and administration related to Fair Work, NES, psychosocial safety compliance and WorkSafe obligations.

- Provide high‑quality client service and support across multiple concurrent projects.

- Recruitment and onboarding.

Skills & Experience

- Experience in Human Resources (essential).

- Understanding of Fair Work Act, NES, and WHS obligations preferred.

- High attention to detail, confidentiality, and strong ethical judgement.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines without supervision.

- Intermediate Microsoft Office skills and capacity to learn HR/WHS systems quickly.
