Overview

We are seeking to establish a pool of Education Support Teachers for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies arising during the 2026 school year. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.

About Coolbellup Learning Centre

Coolbellup Learning Centre is an education support school that provides specialist teaching and learning programs for children with disabilities and other high support needs. Catering for children from Kindergarten to Year 6, we provide tailored educational programs for a diverse range of diagnoses including intellectual disability, autism, Down Syndrome, and cerebral palsy. Classes are small with a focus on communication, independence, and academic skills, using play-based and evidence-based programs. Specialist programs include functional skills, protective behaviours, and augmentative and alternative communication (AAC). Each class has a team of education assistants and teachers; students are supported by a sensory specialist, an ASD specialist and an AAC specialist who are teachers within the school.

Responsibilities

- Establish a positive and inclusive classroom; develop Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and other required plans; undertake assessment, data collection and report writing.
- Design and deliver engaging programs for students with high support needs, including the use of AAC devices and multi-sensory approaches; differentiate curriculum and assessment to meet diverse student needs.
- Collaborate with colleagues in a whole-school, team-based environment; contribute to ongoing professional growth.

Qualifications and Experience

- Experience in the education support context is preferred.
- Exemplary teaching skills with a motivation to excel; ability to communicate effectively with parents, students and colleagues.
- Strong collaborative and interpersonal skills; able to foster genuine relationships.

- Hold an eligible teacher qualification and registration.
- Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or have a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment.

- Consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number before you start.
