Bunbury, Australia Western Power Full time

Lead the future of risk prevention and operational safety at Western Power

We're looking for a forward-thinking Hazard & Critical Risks Manager on a permanent full time basis to lead the strategic management of safety, health, and environmental risks across all Western Power operations.

In this pivotal role, you'll oversee the implementation and governance of our Critical Risk Management (CRM) Framework, ensuring it's fully embedded across operations, construction and our network.

You’ll be accountable for identifying and mitigating systemic and emerging risks, designing proactive prevention programmes targeting high-risk activities—including Western Power’s nine Critical Risks—and driving continuous improvement through data analysis, system reviews, and cross‑functional engagement.

This role sits at the intersection of safety leadership, operational influence, and environmental responsibility. You’ll champion the integration of human‑factoring and safety‑by‑design principles, lead complex incident response efforts, engage with regulators and industry bodies, and guide a high‑performing team toward a culture of prevention, learning, and operational safety excellence.

If you’re passionate about transforming risk management into a strategic advantage and ready to lead with impact this could be your next opportunity to shine.

What Makes You a Great Fit

- Extensive and demonstrated experience in WHS Risk Management and Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) within complex, high risk, multi‑disciplinary industrial settings (e.g. utilities, infrastructure, transport or heavy industry).

- A Bachelor’s degree or Diploma / Advanced Diploma or Graduate Certificate in WHS, Environmental studies, Risk or Project Management.

- Specialist training (e.g., Certificate IV in Incident Investigation, Risk Management, Environment).

- Strong working knowledge of Environmental regulations, WHS legislation, Codes of Practice and Safety Management System frameworks.

- Demonstrated ability to lead strategic planning processes and translate safety goals into practical, measurable initiatives aligned with broader business and people strategies.

- Demonstrated effective people management and leadership skills and experience.

- Highly developed stakeholder engagement and relationship‑building skills, with demonstrated ability to influence senior leaders, operational teams and cross‑functional stakeholders.

- Strong analytical and reporting skills, with experience using safety data and insights to guide priorities, measure performance and inform decision‑making.

- Valid WA Driver’s License Class ‘C’ or ‘C‑A’.
