Somerset Regional, Australia Health Workforce Queensland Full time
Job Type: Permanent - Full Time

After Hours Requirements: No

Salary Information: Negotiable (based on experience & qualifications)

About the Organisation:
This not-for-profit Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander owned and controlled non-government health, social health and wellbeing organization has been operational for over 25 years and employs over 130 staff. At the heart of the organisation is the Primary Health Care Centre at Injinoo, an accredited General Practice, delivering services to 5 remote Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities: Injinoo, Umagico, Bamaga, Seisia, and New Mapoon.

About Life in the Northern Peninsular Area (NPA):
Find a new, relaxed way of life in tropical Far North Queensland, just 25km from the tip of Cape York Peninsula and 900km north of Cairns. The main centre for the 3,000 people of the five Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island communities is Bamaga, a well-serviced and close-knit neighbourhood offering residents everything you'd expect in a large country town - schools, a supermarket, hospital, post office, service station/workshop, child care services, clothing store, hotel, snack bar, and bakery. You will be dazzled by the recreational opportunities offered by the natural beauty on your doorstep.

About the Opportunity:
This organisation is looking for a General Practitioner to work within a cohesive and integrated team. The General Practitioner provides a high standard of patient care whilst incorporating a holistic approach towards diagnosis and management of illness. This position will demonstrate a strong commitment to promoting health, wellbeing, and disease prevention, working in collaboration with local Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Health Workers.

About You:
To be successful in this role you will have:

- Tertiary qualification in Medicine with current unrestricted specialist registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
- FRACGP or FACRRM Fellowship
- Current Medical Indemnity Insurance
- Experience in or a demonstrated commitment to improving Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health outcomes
- Willingness and ability to accommodate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander values and traditions including willingness to take advice from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff.
- It is a condition of employment for this position that the employee be vaccinated against COVID-19 in accordance with the Workers in a Healthcare Setting (COVID-19 Vaccination Requirements) Direction.

About the Benefits:
If you are looking for a change of pace, a change of lifestyle, or seeking a new adventure, this may be the role for you. Experience working 38 hours a week in a location that provides the best the "top end" can offer — fishing, camping, amazing wildlife, and 4WD adventures, all whilst you develop and expand your career options. NPAFACS offers excellent facilities and the opportunity to work within a supportive team culture.

In return for your hard work and dedication, the successful applicant will enjoy an above-award salary (dependent on experience and qualifications) plus super. Furthermore, you will have the option of salary sacrifice arrangements to increase your take-home pay. A fully-furnished two-bedroom air-conditioned accommodation and vehicle is provided with the position and NPAFACS will cover relocation costs of up to $3,000.

What you will receive:

- 24 Month Fixed Term Contract with a possible extension
- 20 days paid Annual Leave including 17.5% loading
- 10 days Personal/ Carers Leave
- Approx. 10 days paid leave over the Christmas closure period
- 5 days paid Remote Leave
- Salary Sacrifice
- Fully furnished accommodation available
