The Shire of Capel is expanding its Community Development & Safety team to include a passionate and hands-on Youth Development Support Officer. If you’re passionate about creating opportunities for young people to connect, grow and thrive, this is your chance to make a difference in our community.

Working alongside our Youth Development Officer, you’ll help coordinate youth programs, projects and events that deliver on the Shire’s Youth Strategy and Strategic Community Plan. From supporting youth collectives and community events to helping run vibrant youth spaces, you’ll play a key role in creating inclusive and engaging opportunities for local young people.

You’ll assist with planning, logistics, communications, volunteer coordination and on-the-ground delivery – helping ensure every initiative runs smoothly and reflects the voices of our youth. One day you might be helping plan an event, the next hanging out with teenagers at a youth space or supporting community partners to make great things happen

You’ll fit right in with our Community Development team – a quirky, creative and proactive bunch who embrace the chaos, work collaboratively and bring big ideas to life. We’re looking for someone who’s enthusiastic, organised, people-focused and ready to dive in to make a difference.

With new youth programs emerging and the long-awaited Dalyellup Multipurpose Community & Youth Centre (DMCYC) soon to open, now’s the perfect time to join the Shire of Capel and help shape what’s next for our young people.

- Base salary up to $68,000 per annum (up to $34.41 per hour), offered as a full-time 6-month fixed-term contract (to 30 June 2026)

To be considered for this role you will be able to demonstrate:

- Good organisational and time management skills, with the ability to assist in planning and delivering multiple projects and events
- Initiative, flexibility and a hands‑on approach to problem solving and getting things done
- Sound written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to contribute to social media, promotional content and reporting
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a small, creative and fast‑paced team environment
- Basic administrative and computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office and social media platforms

Experience in youth work, community services, education or event coordination will be highly regarded.
