Here at Amazon we're seeking for a results driven Transportation Operations Manager who will work across the organization to determine the needs, goals, and execution plans to create a world class Amazon Transportation Operations network in Australia. This leader will be a self-starter, comfortable with ambiguity, able to think strategically (while paying careful attention to detail), and enjoy working in an ever-growing, progressive and data-intensive operations environment.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a high-powered dynamic team shaping the transportation operations in our buildings to improve and enhance the Amazon transportation network.

An ideal candidate has a background in transportation operations and has excellent program management skills. You'll have the ability to lead and mentor people; analyses data and make sound recommendations in an often-ambiguous environment. One of the main responsibilities in this role is to standardize and improve processes; while analyzing and eliminating root cause of defects within the current systems; provide inputs for new building designs and new building launches. This job will require exceptional communication skills and the ability to influence change at a local (facility) and global level.

Key job responsibilities
- Own the transportation operations management (TOM) field operations and projects for multiple regions within Australia,
- Own the overall safety, quality, performance, and customer experience for yard management activities across all the sites in Australia,
- Lead a team of TOM Area Managers across different regions, including regular coaching and development sessions and directing the team as needed during the work day,
- Launch the TOM function to cover new site launches in Australia by collaborating with launch teams, cross-function teams to setup TOM,
- Set and clarify requirements and expectations with the functional leaders with on-site Operations, support functions, and regional leaders,
- Install a performance culture, instill ownership and create a high-performing team,
- Collaborate with Senior Ops and TOM leadership team manage on quality and Customer Experience metrics, including the root cause analysis of problem areas and reporting to ATS country manager,
- Drive creation of safety and quality initiatives, process change initiatives and other Lean initiatives to meet and exceed the business plans,
- Take proactive steps to ensure that best practices are shared across all sites, departments, shifts and among the network,
- Work closely with the sites support functions (HR, Recruiting, L&D, Finance, Facilities, Safety, IT and Site leadership) to build and secure support and resources for projects and initiatives in their sites,
- Drive and roll out the tech initiatives for step changes in yard performances,
- Provide inputs on long-term strategic new building design/launches to support growth of Amazon Transportation network,
- Partner with finance, recruiting, operations, and HR for daily/weekly planning, peak planning, and long-term labor planning,
- Readiness for travel primarily within Australia,
- Work in partnership with ATS Senior leadership to identify operational scale, global parity and growth opportunities and develop business plans the Amazon Emerging Markets.

About the team
TOM team focuses on managing the yard activities in the AU sites. This team is the interface between sites and the Supply Chain/Trans organizations. You will be responsible for developing and improving the yard management activities for a set of sites AU region. You will own all operations, performance, and people development targets across AU sites. Besides being responsible for all site yard operations on your own you will be managing a team of regional operations manager, coaching and mentoring this team to ensure performance objectives are met and building a positive employee relation to deliver quality results.- 5+ years of program or project management experience,
- 5+ years of team management experience,
- Experience working cross functionally with tech and non-tech teams,
- Significant work experience in a fast-paced environment, ideally in logistics, supply chain, transportation or manufacturing industry,
- Strong leadership skills with employee and performance management experience; including data analytics and data-driven decision-making skills,
- Experience with performance metrics and process improvement and lean techniques,
- High ability to deal with ambiguity and handle changing priorities, to effectively prioritize, to multitask, and to use good judgment in pressure situations,
- Ability to develop creative and scalable solutions independently, and drive them from ideation to successful completion,
- Strong verbal and written communication skills - ability to communicate effectively with senior management, tech teams, and international stakeholders,
- Experience defining program requirements and using data and metrics to determine improvements.- Completed Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain/Logistics, or a related field,
- Experience managing, analyzing and communicating project results to senior leadership,
- Experience in Six Sigma/ Lean analytical techniques,
- Experience in supply chain management and transportation concepts: forecasting, planning, optimization, logistics, delivery performance, carrier negotiation, inventory management, S&OP.
