About the Role

The Cruise Attendant/ Deckhand role requires a high level of interaction with customers.

As the face of SeaLink QLD, it is the Cruise Attendant/Deckhand’s responsibility to provide excellent customer service with a smile – meeting and greeting passengers as they board, assisting customers with any luggage or queries, selling ferry tickets, beverages and other products including tours products on board the vessel.

To ensure safe and efficient vessel operations, clear communication, physical fitness, and the ability to follow instructions and safety guidelines are paramount in this role.

- Enjoy working in a team environment
- Excellent interpersonal skills, able to relate to passengers from a variety of backgrounds, and provide assistance
- Have attention to detail with regard to cleaning tasks and paperwork
- Strong work ethics and 'Can Do' Attitude
- Able to work flexible hours
- Be well presented at all times

Duties

- Ensure the highest standards of customer service at all times.
- Deck duties, including rope work, moving and securing gangways, ramps, and trolleys.
- Boat handling - use of vessel tender boats
- Assist with the safe, efficient, and timely boarding and disembarkation of all passengers.
- Assist passengers where necessary with their luggage.
- Bar work, including sales, stock control, and reconciliation.
- Attend to passenger comfort and safety.

Skills, Qualifications & Experience

- Elements of Ship Board Safety qualification
- Senior First Aid and Resuscitation Qualification
- Drivers License
- Responsible Service of Alcohol certificate
- Proven track record of excellent customer service
- Experience in the tourism industry
