About the Role

Working to support the Copper SA Asset which is a complex mining and metals processing operation in South Australia. You will be reporting to the Engineering Copper SA, Mechanical Lead Engineer and will be responsible for providing specialist technical expertise to the operation.

In this role you will:

- Be a visible safety leader and have experience engaging with all levels of the operation
- Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to solve complex problems
- Generate and review designs, technical assessments, and reports
- Provide specialist engineering expertise and ensure standards are followed
- Provide support to peers to ensure the success of the team
- Support the operation through identification and implementation of initiatives to support the business priority of continuous improvement
- Develop, review, or update the technical documentation (engineering standards, procedures and drawings) from which the operation is designed, constructed, operated and maintained
- Establish and maintain close working relationships with relevant departments, suppliers, consultants, and contractors
- Have a strong focus in sustainability and safety in design principles, risk identification and risk assessment in all activities

About You

You will need to possess the following attributes:

- Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent. Must be eligible for membership with Engineers Australia as a Chartered Professional Engineer (MIEAust)
- Solid understanding of Mechanical Engineering principles; experience in industrial processing, mining, water, oil and gas or heavy industry appropriate to mining and complex processing operations
- Technical knowledge and design capabilities in pipework, pumps, valves, tanks, pressure equipment, hydraulic systems and slurry systems
- Experience with applying safety in design to engineering deliverables
- Well-developed communication and engagement skills with an interest in providing technical leadership, stewardship, support, and solutions
- Exceptional attention to detail, innovative problem-solving, and a strong aptitude for applying engineering judgment
