About this Opportunity:
This Melbourne based Senior Corporate Counsel position will play a leading role to deliver comprehensive legal support for a variety of matters for Australia, New Zealand and Structured Finance across Asia Pacific Region, with the strong focus on cross-border transactions, new business initiatives, regulatory compliance and litigation management.
This role will report to the Assistant General Counsel, working with team members based in the Asia Pacific and US.
Responsibilities
- Provide legal support regarding the transactions, compliance, corporate governance, litigations and etc. for Cat Financials’ core business in Australia, New Zealand and Structured Finance.
- Advise senior management and provide clear recommendations on legal matters.
- Assist with implementation of legal strategies and goals in line with company's business objectives; researching complex legal issues and reviewing and drafting complex legal documents.
- Provide leadership, legal expertise and counsel to business leaders at all levels.
- Be accountable to assess legal risk; and identify and contribute to resolution of legal issues with a broad band of risk exposure.
The Senior Corporate Counsel will work closely with Line Unit leadership and staff, as well as AP Regional Counsel to collaborate with relevant LSPP functional and regional legal teams and outside counsels to ensure the provision of responsive and high-quality legal support.
What You Have
- Legal Expertise and Skills: Legal knowledge and practical experience in managing financial services; Knowledge of methods and tools used in legal analysis; ability to read, interpret and draw accurate conclusions from both legal and factual information.
- Business Acumen and Judgement: In-depth knowledge of financial leasing industry to make sound judgment to support the business needs.
- Risk Management: Knowledge of processes, tools and techniques for assessing and controlling an organization's exposure to risks of various kinds; ability to apply knowledge of risk management appropriately to diverse situations.
- Strategic Vision: Ability to create the vision and lead the change. Be strategic with the enterprise view.
- Leadership: Knowledge of leadership concepts and ability to use strategies and skills to enlist others in setting, embracing and achieving objectives.
- Problem Solving: Willing to take initiative, identify risks, make decisions and take responsibilities to resolve problems and improve results.
- Communication: Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills with demonstrated ability to impact, influence, and negotiate internally and externally.
- Collaboration: Ability to collaborate vertically and horizontally, across levels and various business functions, and with external parties
- Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- A 4-year college or university degree with law background. The Master of Laws (LL.M.) is preferred.
- Legal Professional Certificate and considerable experience in the law practice in Australia.
- 8-10 years working experience, and a minimum of 3-5 years of industry experience with captive financing companies or related role preferred.
- Rich experience in transactions, legal agreements, litigation, compliance and regulatory, especially in financial industry.
- A demonstrated record of interpreting and communicating the substance of complex law issues and the ability to manage multiple projects with minimal supervision.
- Proficiency English language skills in speaking and writing, especially good legal writing skills.
Additional Information:
- Working environment - 5 days in office
- Sponsorship and Relocation is not supported for this role.
