Position Information

The Georges River Principal Network is located in South Eastern Sydney and covers schools in both The Georges River and Bayside LGAs. The network is comprised of 13 primary schools, 5 high schools and 2 schools for a specific purpose.

The Assistant Principal - Learning and Support will be based at Woniora Road School in the Georges River Network. Woniora Road School is an EDBD SSP located in Hurstville. The school offers full-time enrolment for 49 secondary-aged students from the Southern Sydney Metropolitan area.

The successful applicant will support all schools in the network in collaboration with other key members of the Team Around A School. The role involves supporting teachers with adjusting educational programs, NCCD, curriculum differentiation and behaviour. The successful applicant will also deliver professional learning for learning and support teachers through network meetings and provide individual advice to schools.

Specific Selection Criteria

In addition to the general selection criteria, 1. Approval to teach students with learning and support needs primary/secondary and/or experience teaching students with learning and support needs primary/secondary in regular classes. Capacity to provide specialist assistance to students in regular classes with additional learning and support needs and their teachers. 2. Support Learning Support Teachers in schools and other school staff in the development and successful implementation of adjusted educational programs for students with additional learning and support needs. 3. Liaise with 'Team Around the School' specialist personnel to ensure the coordinated prioritisation and delivery of support for students with additional learning and support needs. 4. Provide specialist advice and assistance to schools, and the network, to best support students with additional learning and support needs.

General Selection Criteria

1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice

2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs

3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams

4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents

5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning

6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department/'s Aboriginal education policy

Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
