Role Description
We are seeking a qualified Mechanical Engineering Draftsperson to join our team in Sydney, NSW. This is a full-time hybrid role. The position involves preparing detailed mechanical and structural drawings to support piling, foundation, and ground engineering works. The role requires accuracy, attention to detail, and strong collaboration with engineers, project managers, and construction teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and develop 2D and 3D CAD drawings for piling equipment, foundations, and ground engineering components.
- Convert engineering concepts, sketches, and specifications into accurate fabrication and installation drawings.
- Prepare detailed drawings, plans, and documentation in accordance with Australian standards, codes, and company procedures.
- Liaise with engineers and project managers to ensure designs are practical, safe, and cost-effective.
- Revise and update existing drawings to reflect design modifications and as-built conditions.
- Maintain drawing registers, revision records, and technical documentation.
- Undertake quality assurance checks to confirm accuracy and compliance with design standards.
- Assist in estimating material requirements and preparing take-offs where required.
- Support project delivery by adopting improved drafting practices and modern software tools.
Qualifications & Skills
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, SolidWorks, or equivalent CAD software.
• Strong technical drawing and drafting ability, with attention to detail.
• Sound knowledge of mechanical and structural design principles.
• Minimum 1 year of drafting experience in a piling contractor or ground engineering environment in Australia (essential).
• Experience in piling, geotechnical, or civil construction projects is highly regarded.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, geotechnical data, and specifications.
• Effective communication skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Relevant qualification in Mechanical Engineering Drafting or equivalent.
