Head of Product Design

Overview

The Head of Product Design leads a high-performing design team at CoStar Group (and Domain, now part of CoStar). Reporting to the Chief Product Officer, this role defines and drives the design vision across a diverse product ecosystem, from Residential to Commercial and SaaS offerings, and shapes how design is integrated into product strategy, technology, data, and business outcomes.

As our new Head of Product Design, you’ll lead the design organization to craft intuitive, human-centred solutions that drive impact for millions of Australians and beyond. You’ll transform bold ideas into meaningful experiences and foster a culture of collaboration, experimentation, and user-first thinking.

Responsibilities

- Bring the vision to life: Champion a clear, strategic design vision aligned with business goals to enhance user engagement, retention, and conversion.
- Design at Scale: Ensure a consistent, accessible, and high-performing experience across platforms backed by scalable design systems.
- Drive Outcomes: Measure and optimise the impact of design through user satisfaction, adoption, and business KPIs.
- Collaborate Deeply: Embed design thinking in every stage of product development alongside Product, Engineering, Marketing and Research.
- Grow the Team: Foster a high-performing, inclusive design culture with clear career paths, mentorship, and continuous learning.

- Design embedded into cross-functional ways of working, influencing product discovery and roadmaps.

Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
- 10+ years in product design (UX/UI), including 5+ years in a design leadership role.
- A strong portfolio reflecting user-centred, data-informed design across complex products.
- Experience in agile environments and cross-functional collaboration.
- Deep knowledge of design systems and scalable design practices.
- A passion for mentoring and developing high-performing teams.
- Strong influencing skills: viewed as a strategic partner, not just a service function.
