Senior QA Automation

Wärtsilä is a world leader in marine technology and leading the industry's transformation towards a decarbonised and sustainable future. With the world’s widest portfolio and service network, we – Wärtsilians - deliver efficient, safe and sustainable integrated products and solutions to enhance the business of our customers. The opportunities presented through digitalisation and new technologies are offering a new era of shipping. Did you know that shipping is the world’s most efficient mode of transportation and that 88% of the world's trade is carried by sea?

We want to change the course towards an interconnected and cleaner maritime future and are constantly on the lookout for future-oriented talent to join our team and to work towards enabling sustainable societies through innovation in technology and services—together. Are you ready to jump onboard?

We are always on the lookout for a talent with a growth mindset – are you the one?

We are looking for a Senior QA Automation to join Wärtsilä Voyage Ports, a leading technology company in the Marine and Energy markets, on a journey towards a cleaner, more sustainable future.

The preferred location for this position is Cairns, Australia. However, we are open to remote work arrangements, and the candidate may be based anywhere within Australia.

Please note that successful applicants must be authorized to work in Australia without sponsorship

Your role and responsibilities

As Senior QA Automation, you will play a critical role in ensuring our path towards shaping the features, automation, and infrastructure for our products and customer-facing projects. This role offers the opportunity to be a part of a talented team, drive technical innovation, and make a significant impact in the maritime industry.

We strongly believe that technology supports the business and we are obsessed how our customers see the value of our work. To better serve our customers and to scale our business, we are transforming our organization towards a product centric approach. This will not be a linear progression; it will be a series of decisions balancing short-term and long-term benefits for the business. For this reason, we appreciate a practical touch when applying technology to business problems. Main drivers for this transformation are needs to scale our business, managing cyber security requirements and optimizing cloud costs. The main KPI for the drivers will be measured against project delivery timelines.

Cyber security has grown to be paramount for the success of our products. We recognize that this field will keep evolving and appreciate active participation and continuous improvement around this topic. We operate in an agile environment; we value flexibility and the ability to adapt to changing priorities.

We act globally, from Americas to Europe, Singapore and Australia. We're looking for individuals who can work independently when required and are able to communicate asynchronously between sites. In practice, this means excellent communication and documentation skills.

As Senior QA Automation, your responsibilities include:

- Direct accountability on quality for the product.

- Manual testing of Ports products and services.

- Automated API testing of products and services.

- Automated UI testing of products and services.

- Analysis of test results.

- Creation of test cases, checklists, and automated testing scenarios.

- Simulation and reproduction of situations leading to errors.

- Bug fix follow ups.

- Preparation and support of test documentation (test plans, checklists, test cases, errors) and testing methods.

- Analyse incidents before handing them over to developers.

- Participate in the organization’s QA practices, sharing your knowledge and ensuring that your own knowledge will propagate throughout the organization.

Requirements for the position:

- Experience in Smoke testing, functional, regression, integration testing and heavy focus on test automation.

- Knowledge in testing web based applications.

- Fluent technical, written and oral communication in English.

- Python knowledge and test automation skills is seen as advantageous.

- Engineering background will be an advantage.
