QA Lead - Delivery - SDET

tekFinder have an exciting new opportunity for a hands on, technical senior tester / lead, whose able to inspire a small testing team at a fast moving tech company.

This global SAAS business, based in Sydney CBD, turnover $100m+ a year and have a global customer base.

Their technology team is circa 100 people with their Java engineering team sitting at about 30 and their QA team at 10. The QA team right now is predominately manual based with 6 of their QAs working on a mix of manual and automation tasks.

The business has never had a dedicated QA Lead/SDET, to lift & inspire the QAs and help them adopt modern engineering practices.

80% hands-on testing, 20% stakeholder engagement.

We are not looking for a QA Manager. This is a super hands on role ideally for an SDET who knows Playwright, TS and CICD to come in and say 'hey - this is ok but you could be doing this much better'.

Their platform is high traffic and they push to production 10-15 times a day - so again, someone who knows modern engineering practices for QA, to drive manual & automated testing across backend, frontend, and APIs is needed.

A startup mindset would be great also The teams here work at pace with daily releases and are constantly prioritising their own work, whilst thinking about the customer journey.

Stack; Playwright, JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, CI/CD, AWS

Day to day;

  • Lead QA strategy across squads, ensuring consistent quality standards
  • Define scalable automation frameworks and integrate into CI/CD pipelines
  • Execute manual/automated tests (regression, performance, exploratory)
  • Mentor junior testers and interns while building QA maturity
  • Expertise in automation frameworks (Selenium, Cypress, Playwright)
  • Have a keen interest in AI adoption
