The Opportunity
We are looking to establish a pool of Environmental Officers (Water Allocation Planning) to support climate adaptation and water allocation planning across Western Australia. This role translates complex science relating to climate, hydrogeology and hydrological trends, water-dependent environments and their associated values, and water use, into practical insights that inform water resource management and policy decisions. You will contribute to research that strengthens understanding of how climate change and water abstraction are affecting groundwater and surface water systems (including their dependent values), and water availability, helping to shape sustainable water allocation strategies.
With a background in environmental science or natural resource management, you will engage with stakeholders and Traditional Owners to ensure diverse perspectives are reflected in climate adaptation and water allocation planning. Your ability to turn scientific findings into clear communication products will support the development of effective management strategies and contribute to long-term water security for the state.
