This is a Talent Pool for Senior Environmental Officers for Botanists and Zoologists in the Terrestrial Ecosystems branch.
The role undertakes specialist technical reviews of fauna, flora and vegetation‑related scientific reports, development proposals and management plans referred to the Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) and the department to support environmental impact assessment, environmental regulation, and investigations of environmental compliance.
The role also provides specialist technical advice and makes recommendations to internal and external stakeholders on matters relating to the management and protection of fauna, flora and vegetation. In addition, it develops and implements policies and strategic advice relevant to fauna, flora and vegetation based on sound scientific evidence.
Botanist Role:
You have considerable knowledge of, and experience with, Western Australian or Australian flora and vegetation, including field work, and application of this to provide relevant and contemporary technical advice (you deliver on high leverage areas).
Zoologist Role:
You have considerable knowledge and experience with Western Australian or Australian terrestrial or subterranean fauna, including field work and application of this to provide relevant and contemporary technical advice (you deliver on high leverage areas).

This pool will operate for a period of 12 months with vacancies being offered at part or full time on a permanent or fixed term contract basis with the possibility of extension or permanency. Pool applicants do not hold a right of review against appointment decisions made from the pool.
