About the Role

You will be working at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital (RPAH). It is one of the nation’s most respected hospitals, with a distinguished history of serving the health needs of local, statewide, national and international communities. The Orthopaedic Research Officer is an integral member of the research team within the Surgical Outcomes Research Centre (SOuRCe) and the RPAH Institute of Academic Surgery (IAS). Under the guidance of the SOuRCe and IAS Directors, you will help undertake research activities related to multiple projects involving the Orthopaedic Department at RPAH. This primarily includes the development and maintenance of the orthopaedic database, study protocol development, protocol implementation, ethics submission, project management, patient recruitment and functional clinical assessment. The position requires very strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work both independently and in a team. The position will be supported by the Orthopaedic Department at RPAH and work closely with other employees in a multi‑disciplinary team. This position will work Monday to Friday. - Relevant post‑graduate qualifications and/or equivalent experience in epidemiology and research study management.

- Experience in preparing research ethics applications and sound understanding of the research ethics and governance processes in NSW.

- Sound written skills and understanding of quantitative and qualitative clinical/public health/health services research, including database management, basic statistical analysis skills, and report writing.

- Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with patients, their relatives, clinicians and other researchers.
