The Role

Coordinate and lead environmental and statutory compliance for the Project Delivery Group, ensuring strong partner performance, regulatory compliance, and sustainability outcomes across TasWater's capital works program.

Facilitate alignment between project teams and delivery partners to meet environmental obligations, KPIs, and contractual requirements. Collaborate with TasWater's Environment & Sustainability Team to support broader compliance goals and sustainability initiatives.

As a senior member of the Project Environment, Quality and Risk Team, lead and inspire the Environment Team to drive a high-performing, collaborative, and outcomes-focused culture.

- Ownership of the Project Delivery Environmental Management System to ensure effective knowledge, procedures and tools are in place to manage risks and compliance on projects.

- Coordinate and facilitate monitoring and oversight of Principal Contractor partner activities to ensure compliance with regulation, legislation and TasWater specifications

- Develop productive and healthy relationships with Delivery Partner and Principal Contractor Environment and Planning SMEs to support compliance and performance outcomes

- Manage and lead the Environmental Management Team, fostering a high-performing, collaborative, and outcomes-focused team culture.

What we're looking for

We're seeking an experienced and proactive environmental leader with strong knowledge of regulatory compliance, sustainability, and project delivery. You'll have proven experience coordinating complex environmental programs, managing teams, and working collaboratively with internal and external partners to drive high performance and ensure compliance across major infrastructure projects.

- Possession of an appropriate Environmental, Planning, or Science Degree qualification

- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in managing and delivering sustainability, environmental and statutory compliance activities for a range of asset types and project complexities, preferably within the water industry or within a similarly scaled infrastructure utility, Government-owned corporation, or similar environment

- Minimum 5 to 10 years experience in a similar role.

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to negotiate and consult with internal and external stakeholders and experience in the provision of strategic and subject-matter expertise and advice relating to complex infrastructure and project issues

The Details

This role can be based in either Hobart, Launceston, or Devonport and attracts a salary of $131,265 - $145,850 (inclusive of superannuation), negotiable dependent on experience.
