Overview

Based in Darwin, oversee the operations and success of the RAES program & support team members to deliver the program on-the-ground in community.

Understanding the program

ALPA’s Community Services department is at the forefront of delivering transformative programs that strengthen First Nations communities and empower individuals. We work across a range of development initiatives that mitigate barriers to employment, foster community engagement, and promote long-term wellbeing of individuals in remote First Nations Communities.

This role sits within the Remote Australia Employment Service (RAES) program, a federally funded initiative delivered by ALPA in communities across Arnhem Land. You might have heard of the Work for the Dole or the Community Development Program (CDP). RAES is similar in purpose but introduces a more flexible, strengths-based approach to remote employment. It supports job seekers through skills development, mentoring, and tailored employment pathways, with a large focus on community-led priorities.

What does your day look like as Community Operations Manager?

Lead passionate teams across multiple First Nations communities in East Arnhem Land. While you’ll be based in Darwin, you will have the opportunity to travel to communities when requires.

Your day-to-day

- Guiding and mentoring Site Managers across multiple remote First Nations communities

- Ensure services align with National standards to meet reporting requirements

- Collaborating with communities to co-design support strategies

- Managing program budgets and keeping things running smoothly

- Hopping on a plane to visit remote communities (overnight travel included)

About You

- Extensive people management experience - essential

- Experience managing a regionalised and remote team is a big plus

- Strong communication skills and senior management advisory experience.

- Proven ability to manage a budget – experience with federal funded programs advantageous

- Dedication to maintaining a robust WHS framework.
