Overview

We/'re hiring a full-time Apprentice Butcher to join the team at our beautiful Devonport store

The apprenticeship is an opportunity for an aspiring butcher to begin their career in retail butchery. You/'ll be part of a team of butchers and other team members, preparing meat and serving customers.

Responsibilities

- Prepare meat and serve customers as part of a team of butchers and other team members.

Requirements

- Positive attitude, good communication, dedication and willingness to learn; prepared to work with and around meat in a food and retail environment.

- A friendly attitude and good communication skills to provide attentive customer service.

- A love of working with food and people (both colleagues and customers).

- Energy, initiative and willingness to take direction.

- The ability to follow company procedures and regulations, particularly regarding food handling and workplace health and safety.

- Ongoing daytime availability on at least 3-4 days per week and every second weekend. Your standard roster will be agreed based on your availability and our operational requirements, with flexibility to suit your needs.

- The desire and eligibility to undertake the Retail Butcher qualification through TasTafe.

- Physical fitness for lifting and standing.

Pay

Pay rates are set by the General Retail Industry Award. The 2025-26 base hourly pay rates for level 1 adults are:

- Weekdays $26.55

- Saturday $33.19

- Sunday $39.83

Full time & part time

- Weekdays $26.55

- Saturday $33.19

- Sunday $39.83

Casual

- Weekdays $33.19

- Saturday $39.83

- Sunday $46.46

Additional penalty rates apply to public holidays and some overtime and early morning shifts. Please view the full Award for all applicable rates and allowances.
