Overview

EL1 Fraud Investigator — 3-month contract with 6-month extension option. Baseline clearance. Canberra based.

Responsibilities

- Undertake internal and external fraud and corruption investigation activities to ensure compliance under Commonwealth legislation.
- Undertake Public Interest Disclosure (PID) investigation activities in line with the PID Act and Ombudsman’s requirements.
- Research, analyse, collate information, and identify risks and issues from internal and external sources to provide recommendations regarding legislative non-compliance and/or fraud identification, investigation and evidentiary processes to inform decision making.
- Support the team to improve current investigation tools/templates
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders including AFP, NACC and Commonwealth Ombudsman’s office
- Conduct interviews and collect witness statements. Gather evidence from relevant sources to prepare high quality and evidenced based briefs and reports.
- Support the team to participate in litigation where appropriate to ensure the provision of effective representation on behalf of the department.
- Develop and implement fraud investigation processes and procedures.

Qualifications

- Certificate IV Government (Investigations) or a similar qualification.
- Baseline security clearance with the ability to obtain an NV1 security clearance.
