Role

The City’s Waste Services business unit is seeking an experienced and motivated Coordinator Waste Services to lead the management and oversight of the City’s waste operations. This pivotal leadership role is responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality, cost-effective, and sustainable waste management services that support the City’s commitment to environmental responsibility and community wellbeing.

As the Coordinator, you will play a key role in shaping the future of the City’s waste services. Your focus will be on maintaining compliance with legislation, driving efficiencies across all contracts and operations, and delivering exceptional customer service to residents, ratepayers, and employees. This is a unique opportunity to influence how waste services are delivered, improve sustainability outcomes, and ensure best practice management of City resources.

Responsibilities

- Lead the management and oversight of the City’s waste operations.
- Drive compliance with waste management legislation, environmental policies, and contract requirements.
- Improve efficiencies across contracts and operations and deliver high-quality services.
- Provide exceptional customer service to residents, ratepayers, and employees.
- Influence waste service delivery and sustainability outcomes through best practice management of City resources.

Qualifications and Experience

- Extensive experience in waste management with strong understanding of waste management regulations, environmental policies, and contract law.
- Proven ability to deliver cost-effective and efficient waste service contracts.
- Highly developed negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- A commitment to continuous improvement and high-quality service delivery.

Successful applicants will be required to hold:

- Current National Police Certificate
- Relevant Tertiary Qualification

- Relevant tertiary qualification in Waste Management / Environmental Management / Engineering and significant experience in waste management operations.
- Diploma in Contract Management or equivalent experience.
- Diploma in Project Management or equivalent experience.
- Experience with people management tasks including resourcing, coaching, mentoring, onboarding and offboarding processes.
