Australian Gas Infrastructure Group (AGIG) owns, operates and invests in infrastructure which delivers gas to more than two million homes and businesses, and is one of the largest gas infrastructure businesses in Australia. AGIG manages over 36,000km of distribution networks, more than 4,300km of transmission pipelines and 60 petajoules of storage capacity. We employ over 500 team members and manage a contractor workforce of approximately 1600, who provide both specialist and operating and maintenance services on AGIG’s gas distribution networks.

About the Opportunity

As Legal Counsel, you will support the Senior Legal Counsel and the General Counsel and Company Secretary to ensure the timely, efficient and effective delivery of legal services across AGIG.

You will work across Australian Gas Networks (AGN), Multinet Gas Networks (MGN), Dampier Bunbury Pipeline (DBP), and AGID Developments (AGID) to provide practical legal support that enables strong commercial outcomes and responsible risk management.

This role offers flexibility in location and can be based in Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne, or Perth.

Key Responsibilities

- Deliver high-quality, commercially focused and technically accurate legal advice to teams across the organisation.
- Support the business with contract drafting, review and negotiation.
- Assist with regulatory, compliance and general commercial law matters relevant to AGIG’s operations.
- Help devise, facilitate and implement strategies that support commercial objectives.
- Identify and address key legal and commercial risks, offering practical solutions and clear guidance.
- Provide day-to-day legal support to ensure the smooth and compliant operation of governance activities.
- Contribute to continuous improvement across company secretarial processes and systems.
- Support the Senior Legal Counsel and General Counsel in managing relationships with external legal firms.
- Help ensure external legal services are used efficiently, effectively and in alignment with business needs.
- Build positive, respectful relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
- Provide clear, accessible advice that supports AGIG’s operational and strategic goals.

About You

- A Law degree and a current practising certificate.
- At least 3 years PQE in legal roles.
- 2–3 years’ experience in an in-house role, or experience in top-tier or mid-tier private practice.
- Admitted to practice in Victoria, South Australia, Queensland or Western Australia.
- Strong commercial judgement and the ability to provide practical, solutions-focused advice.
- A diligent, organised and task‑focused approach to work.
- Background or exposure to Infrastructure, Energy, Commercial Law, Regulation, or Contracts and Procurement. (desirable)
