This role will work a 5/2 roster from the Sydney office with 2 days WFH option available.

About the Role

As the Data Platform Lead, you’ll be at the heart of Evolution Mining’s enterprise data capability—owning the technical strategy, operations, and continuous improvement of our data platform. Reporting to the Group Manager – Enterprise Data & Analytics, you’ll lead the delivery and support of our data infrastructure, ensuring it’s scalable, secure, cost-effective, and aligned with business needs.

You’ll manage relationships with internal stakeholders and our external managed service provider, define SLAs, and drive performance across data lakes, warehouses, ingestion pipelines, and analytics layers. This role is critical to enabling business outcomes through reliable, high-performing data services.

Key responsibilities include:

- Delivering and evolving the data platform technical roadmap
- Ensuring platform reliability, performance, and compliance
- Managing vendor relationships and service delivery
- Driving cost transparency and optimisation
- Supporting data governance and analytics enablement
- Championing continuous improvement and innovation

This is a strategic and hands‑on role for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment and is passionate about building data platforms that empower decision‑making across the organisation.

About You

You’re a technically accomplished data platform leader with deep expertise in cloud‑native data architecture, engineering, and analytics enablement. You understand how to build scalable, secure, and cost‑effective data platforms that support enterprise‑wide decision‑making and operational efficiency.

To thrive in this role, you’ll bring:

- Extensive experience in enterprise data engineering, including ingestion pipelines, ELT/ETL frameworks, and medallion architecture
- Hands‑on expertise with cloud data platforms, especially Databricks, and transformation tools like DBT or Coalesce
- Strong capability in metadata management, data quality frameworks, and implementing governance‑aligned data pipelines
- Proficiency in BI and reporting tools, particularly Power BI, with a track record of enabling self‑service analytics
- Experience with enterprise integration technologies such as Mulesoft or Boomi, supporting seamless data flow across systems
- Architectural governance skills, ensuring platform solutions align with enterprise standards and ARB processes
- Ability to manage vendor relationships, define SLAs, and oversee performance of managed service providers
- Cloud cost optimisation experience, including forecasting, resource allocation, and implementing cost transparency models
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to diagnose platform issues and drive continuous improvement
- A strategic mindset, with the ability to align platform evolution with business goals and emerging technologies (including AI opportunities)
