The property pipeline includes retail (Supermarkets, BIG W & Metro), industrial and complex/mixed use developments. Finally, the role will play an important role in helping to pursue the Reputation, Government & Industry Affairs (RGIA) purpose, namely with governments, communities and stakeholders to champion Woolworths’ success.
The role will drive proactive stakeholder engagement with government, departments and industry bodies to support Woolworths’ commercial and reputational ambitions, as well as providing trusted advice on our advocacy opportunities and risks specific to these areas.
It will require working in a highly collaborative way across the broader Government and Industry Affairs team to achieve advocacy and reputational outcomes.
What you’ll do
- Provide strategic community, stakeholder relations and issues management support across priority property projects nationally as required to contribute to the Group’s ability to advance its commercial priorities.
- Regularly review the stakeholder engagement toolkit to ensure it is fit-for-purpose, consistently applied and employed across the Property team.
- Develop and implement state and local government engagement plans to ensure good governance and alignment of stakeholder engagement with key Councils and Departments.
- Drive opportunities to build our reputation with communities and stakeholders, including store openings, sod turning events, tours of projects with key stakeholders and development of our overall narrative to highlight the Group’s positive impact in communities.
- Capture, escape and report on reputational risk.
- Provide oversight, review and advice in the development of submissions via relevant industry groups and to all levels of government in respect of planning policy.
What you’ll bring
- Exceptional stakeholder engagement and influencing ability, with a proven track record in the planning, development or related sectors, preferably in NSW.
- Previous experience working in government or government relations, or a related discipline such as community engagement or communications, with a strong understanding of the political landscape.
- A capacity for the provision of strategic advice, as well as transactional execution and excellence.
- Highly collaborative with the ability to effectively network.
- High ambition and motivation, with exceptional written and verbal communication skills to articulate persuasively, whether that be direct advocacy, government submissions, community engagement materials, briefing papers and presentations.
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field such as law, politics or communications.
What you’ll experience
- Hybrid Flexibility: Blend in-office engagement with work-from-home opportunities for a balanced work week.
- A global business with endless career possibilities around every corner and across every discipline – with valuable exposure to a vast and exciting business network.
- Team discounts across our range of Woolworths Group brands you know and love and a robust rewards program that celebrates and incentivises purpose-driven work.
- 12 weeks paid parental leave for primary caregivers plus paid superannuation for up to 12 months while the Team Member is on parental leave - eligible from the first day of employment
