We are seeking a permanent, part-time Financial Resilience & Wellbeing Counsellor (Practitioner) based in Hobart working 53.2 hours per fortnight (0.7 full-time equivalent).

We provide programs relating to ageing and disability, health, housing, families, drug and alcohol treatment and support and more.
About the role:
The Financial Resilience & Wellbeing Counsellor (Practitioner) is to deliver Anglicare Financial Management Programs and provide services that assist vulnerable and disadvantaged people build financial health and wellbeing.
What you will be doing in this role:
- Provide casework to assist clients to find a solution to their financial use concerns and gain an improved ability to manage their financial affairs, including;
- Assess client’s overall financial position.
- Provide current and accurate information on all possible options to address the client’s specific problem/s.
- Advocate and negotiate on the client’s behalf with relevant stakeholders.
- Provide quality services in accordance with program guidelines and Anglicare policy and procedure;
- Participate in effective consumer engagement activities to ensure clients contribute to the development of the Financial Management Programs;
- Attend and participate in team meetings, peer supervision, Anglicare Regional Meetings and related cross stream collaboration activities;
- Participate regularly in own clinical supervision and utilise debriefing processes and professional support as appropriate;
- Engage in professional development activities, and maintain up‑to‑date knowledge;
- Promote Anglicare Financial Management Programs in the community, and maintain positive channels of communication with community service providers and key stakeholders;
- Develop, organise and deliver community education related to Financial Management Programs;
- Maintain accurate clients records and service delivery statistics, and contribute to program reporting and evaluation.
To be successful you will have:
- Detailed knowledge of financial issues affecting individuals and families within the Tasmanian community, and conceptual understanding of the social and political contexts in which financial counselling services function in Tasmania;
- Knowledge of relevant government regulations and other statutory requirements that are applicable to financial counselling services;
- Competent counselling and interpersonal skills including negotiating and conflict resolution skills and the ability to counsel clients in a supportive non‑judgemental manner, as well as an ability to advocate and negotiate on client’s behalf;
- Ability to assess a client’s financial situation, identify possible options and communicate this knowledge to clients clearly and effectively;
- Capacity to engage and support clients across multiple service environments, including office and phone based counselling, home visits, and outreach to other community agency sites;
- Ability to prepare and present money management information sessions to community groups;
- Ability to network and establish effective links with both government and non‑government services; and knowledge of other services and resources available within the community and the capacity to refer appropriately;
- Capacity to exercise initiative, work independently and cooperatively with other team members and capacity maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion;
- Ability to maintain accurate and complete client file records, as well as an ability to maintain and collate statistics and prepare written reports;
- Computer knowledge and skills, with ability to operate a variety of applications including email, word processing and database management software packages;
- Demonstrate an understanding of empathy with Anglicare’s mission and values.

- A 7% Graduate Loading payable where you hold a degree in a relevant discipline;
- An attractive salary of $91,567.84-$95,974.32 (full‑time equivalent) + Super + Salary sacrifice;

The successful applicant will be required to:
- provide a current Tasmanian Working with Vulnerable People Registration (employment/volunteer category) including NDIS Worker Screening Check if you are applying for the 1st time or have renewed your registration since 1st February 2021;
- present an unsupervised contact with children or vulnerable people type Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check (National Police Check) which is no older than 12 months;
- provide an International Police Check if you have resided for 12 months or more outside of Australia after the age of 16;
- complete a satisfactory Anglicare assessed medical;
- provide a current provisional or full Australian Driver’s Licence.
On commencement the successful applicant will be required to undertake our structured Safeguarding Children Training program.
