The Opportunity

Novaskill has partnered with CA Care Services to offer a Disability Support Traineeship opportunity including on-the-job training with ongoing mentoring and support to help you achieve your career goals and unleash your true potential.

You’ll complete a Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability) whilst working with our host employer over 24 months through a combination of formal training with Novaskill and practical on-the-job experience at CA Care Services.

The Role

- Assisting in the development or implementation of resident care plans, cooking, or preparation of a full range of meals

- Cleaning and Hygiene upkeep of the premises under limited supervision either individually or as part of a team

- Meeting the day to day needs of clients under direction and following their individual care plans.

- Implementing client skills and activity programs under limited supervision either individually or as part of a team assisting in the development or implementation of resident care plans

- Supervising or providing a wide range of personal care services to residents under limited supervision either individually or as part of a team.

- Ensure that the service provided is in keeping with the Disability Service Standards and the policies and procedures of CA Care Services.

Essential

- Basic computing skills.

- Ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.

- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

- Availability to work days, nights, and weekends.

- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; both written and verbal.

- Apply First Aid Certificate & CPR or willingness to obtain.

- Ability to work as part of a team.

- Ability to remain calm under pressure situations.

- Ability to manage stress and carry out all physical aspects of the position.

- Demonstrated commitment to values of CA Care Services.

- Demonstrate a positive attitude towards people with a disability.

- NDIS Workers Check.

- Driver’s License.

- Provision of a satisfactory pre-employment medical check.

- NDIS Worker Orientation Module

- Supporting Effective Communication

- Supporting Safe and Enjoyable Meals

- New Worker NDIS Induction Module

Desirable

- Experience with leading, managing and mentoring a team.

- Independent Supports experience.

- Report writing.

- Age Care experience.

- A willingness to become a disability care worker with a passion to commit to the position.

- An appropriate certificate relevant to the work required to be performed or a commitment to gain the level of certificate necessary.

- Will have attained previous experience in a relevant industry, service or an equivalent level of expertise and experience to undertake the range of activities required; this may include life experience.

- A willingness to gain the appropriate on-the-job training and relevant experience.
