Westport is a program within the Transport Portfolio tasked with delivering Perth’s proposed new port facility in Kwinana, unlocking Western Australia’s economic growth and creating local jobs. It comprises multiple infrastructure and related programs that together realise benefits for Australia and foster innovation in WA infrastructure delivery. Westport is building a values-based, outcomes-focused cross-government team to deliver this opportunity.
The Opportunity
Westport are seeking a dynamic and strategic Project Lead – People Operations to shape the future of Western Australia’s container supply chain. This is a rare opportunity to contribute to a once-in-a-century infrastructure program that will deliver lasting economic, social, and environmental benefits. As part of the Commercial and Corporate Directorate, you’ll enable Westport’s multi-disciplinary, future-ready workforce to deliver this transformative vision.
The role coordinates projects and initiatives that support the delivery of the Westport Program, ensuring effective integration across teams, workstreams, and governance structures. It involves developing project scopes, business cases, and solutions, maintaining oversight of statutory and corporate processes, and enabling organisational and workforce readiness. It supports people and change strategies, applies agile approaches to workforce initiatives, and drives engagement, capability, and cultural alignment to guide decision‑making and improve operational effectiveness across the program.

Your impact
Your impact will be through:
- Coordinating cross-functional projects and initiatives that support Westport’s strategic objectives.
- Developing project scopes, business cases, and costings to implement optimal workforce and corporate solutions.
- Enhancing organisational capability through role design, structural alignment, and capability frameworks.
- Maintaining oversight of statutory approvals and corporate processes, ensuring compliance and readiness.
- Partnering with functional leads to assess future workforce needs and recommend strategic initiatives.
- Driving continuous improvement and automation of internal processes using contemporary tools.
- Supporting change management and adoption of new ways of working across teams.
- Collaborating with the Manager, People Operations to deliver initiatives that strengthen operational effectiveness.
- Preparing reports, briefings, and presentations to inform strategic decision-making.
- Translating data into meaningful insights and recommendations for the Executive Leadership Team.
What sets you apart
- Proven project and change management experience within complex programs or infrastructure projects.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships, influence stakeholders, and navigate sensitive issues.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce high-quality reports and presentations for a range of audiences.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and deliver under pressure in a dynamic environment.
- Ability to work within a project environment and lead a project team while maintaining a focus on program goals and objectives.
- Experience delivering workforce capability and work design support in medium-sized corporate organisations would be highly desirable.

There is currently one full-time, fixed-term appointment up to 30 June 2028, with the possibility of extensions and/or permanency for an immediate start.
