Competitive Salary: Band 6 - $101,833.74 to $111,108.57 p.a (dependent on experience) +12% superannuation
Location: Corporate Centre in Sandringham, with the flexibility to work from home

About the Role
The Senior Traffic Engineer provides transport and traffic management services and advice that meet the needs of Council and the community. They work to provide a sustainable, safe, well-connected, accessible, and convenient transport network that positively contributes to a strong economy, the health and wellbeing of the community and a low carbon future.
The role is within the Transport Safety and Engineering team, providing services in multiple areas of operation, including timely responses relating to road safety, assessing and responding to development permit referrals and capital works proposals, and the achievement of successful outcomes using engineering principles and compliance with legislation, regulations, guidelines, and policies.
You will be responsible for:
- Provision of technical advice, information, and support on relevant transport and traffic management matters
- Provide traffic engineering advice on internal referrals, including Planning applications, building development proposals, hoardings, road occupancy and crane permits, and traffic management plans
- Investigate transport, traffic, and parking service complaints from the public and other stakeholders, and preparation of responses demonstrating problem solving, options analysis, and formulation of recommendations and solutions
- Assist in the delivery of capital works through the analysis of data available through traffic management systems
- Assess and process NHVR permit referrals for load limits, B-Double, higher mass limit applications in accordance with Council’s Policy requirements
Key Selection Criteria
To be successful in this role, you will bring the following skills and competencies:
- A tertiary qualification in Civil / Traffic Engineering or related field
- At least 4 years’ experience in traffic engineering
- Experience with traffic engineering principles, with local government experience beneficial
- Experience in providing traffic engineering advice for statutory planning applications
- Excellent written skills and demonstrated ability to prepare reports
- Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills
Mandatory pre-employment requirements
- Be willing to undergo and complete a satisfactory criminal history check
- Provide or obtain an employment-based Working with Children check
- Current Victorian Driver's Licence
