About the Role

We are seeking an Intermediate Accountant to join our team in Bakery Hill, VIC. This position is suited to someone with solid technical knowledge, ready to take responsibility for preparing accounts, supporting clients with compliance obligations, and contributing to advisory services under the guidance of senior accountants and managers.

Key Responsibilities

- Compile and analyse financial information to prepare statutory financial statements, management reports, and annual accounts.
- Ensure financial records and reports comply with Australian Accounting Standards and statutory requirements.
- Prepare and lodge taxation obligations including income tax, BAS, IAS, and FBT, ensuring compliance with legislation.
- Assist in the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections to support client business planning.
- Identify variances in financial performance and provide recommendations to improve efficiency and compliance.
- Support clients with accounting system processes and help maintain accurate financial databases.
- Assist in preparing documentation for audits and liaising with auditors as required.
- Provide timely advice to clients on accounting, taxation, and compliance matters.
- Perform other accounting duties consistent with the role as required.

Requirements

- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related discipline (or equivalent).
- Minimum 5 years’ professional accounting experience, preferably in an accounting firm or similar environment.
- Good knowledge of accounting standards and Australian taxation requirements.
- Demonstrated experience in financial reporting, tax compliance, and client accounting.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Proficiency with accounting software (e.g. MYOB, Xero, QuickBooks) and Microsoft Office.
- Ability to manage workload independently while working collaboratively within a team.
