WorkSafe ACT is a fully independent office headed by the WHS Commissioner. WorkSafe ACT achieves its objectives through a combination of compliance and enforcement, awareness raising, education, inspection, and investigation. It is responsible for monitoring and enforcing compliance by duty holders in accordance with the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 (WHS Act) and associated legislation including dangerous substances, workers’ compensation, and Labour Hire Licensing.

We have an exciting permanent vacancy for a suitably skilled professional to fill the role of Senior Director, Finance and Business Services. In this role you will manage a wide range of duties, including the management of strategic finance, audit and risk functions, procurement and corporate services. The role directs teams to provide a range of enabling service activities, in support of WorkSafe ACT.

This position will form part of the broader Senior Leadership Team.

If successful, you will:

- play a key role in maintaining effective relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, including the Audit and Risk Committee, Treasury, Shared Services and other stakeholders
- lead the strategic oversight and management of finance, governance, procurement and corporate services, including setting team goals and objectives, identifying process improvement opportunities, and ensuring the teams operate in line with the organisation’s strategic directions
- oversee risk management and governance frameworks to ensure compliance with legislative obligations, support strategic decision-making and maintain effective internal controls, including reporting to the executive and the Audit and Risk Committee, and
- oversee the financial analysis and budget management, including resource allocations and management and monitoring financial performance for the organisation.

Eligibility/Other requirements:

- Tertiary qualifications in business, accounting, or related are highly desirable.
- Membership and professional accreditation or progress thereto of a peak Australian accounting body such as CPA Australia or Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CA) is highly desirable.

Notes: This is a position available from 01 November 2025.

A Merit Pool may be established from this selection process and may be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months. Selection may be based on referee reports and written application only.

This position has moved to a workplace designed for activity-based working (ABW). Under ABW arrangements, officers do not have a designated workstation/desk.
