Your Role

The purpose of this role is to produce a high-quality work product through effective investigating, reserving, and adjusting of claims within your client base.

Your Responsibilities:

1. Analyse first report of claim, suit or underlying material to determine nature of loss, coverage provided and scope of damage
2. Conduct or direct needed investigation relative to all aspects of reported claims. Secure and/or file all supporting documentation and verify same for accuracy, relationship and completeness
3. Establish accurate and timely reserves
4. Maintain active diary to achieve timely development of file and timely disposition
5. Provide exceptional service standards in line with best practice guidelines
6. Practice sound litigation controls over counsel
7. Promptly and properly document all developments in claim file
8. Meet with appropriate parties to litigation or claims, as necessary, to resolve issues
9. Effectively communicate with the following: Claim Department, Customer Services, Loss Control, Underwriting Departments, brokers, insureds, counsel, third parties and/or their legal representatives
10. May direct claim representatives to participate in file development and subrogation
11. Adhere to Insurance Contracts Act and all other relevant statutory rules and regulations
12. Effectively control the use, work product and expenses of outside vendors
13. Exercise good judgement in reaching final disposition of claim by evaluating nature of loss, liability, injury/damage, coverage provided and applicable limits
14. Participate in branch marketing efforts
15. Such other duties as may be delegated by the Claims manager
