Clark Wood is delighted to be working with a respected independent firm of chartered accountants in Penrith who are seeking an ambitious and professional Accounts & Audit Senior to join their close-knit and growing team.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a part-qualified or fully qualified (ACA / ACCA) individual to take on a varied and hands-on role within a friendly and supportive practice, known for its long-standing client relationships and commitment to employee development.

Role Overview

The position will involve a mix of accounts preparation and audit work, with the split dependent on experience and client needs – typically around 80% accounts and 20% audit. You will work closely with clients across a range of sectors, including owner-managed businesses, SMEs, and charitable organisations.

This role offers genuine career progression, making it ideal for someone looking to take the next step in their accountancy career within a collaborative local firm.

Key Responsibilities

- Preparing year-end statutory accounts for limited companies, partnerships, and sole traders

- Completing corporation tax computations and liaising with HMRC where required

- Supporting and leading audit assignments from planning to completion

- Managing and developing relationships with a broad portfolio of clients

- Assisting in mentoring junior members of the team and reviewing their work

- Working closely with managers and partners to deliver client-focused solutions

Candidate Requirements

- ACA / ACCA Qualified or Part-Qualified (study support available if needed)

- Experience in a UK accountancy practice is essential

- Strong technical knowledge of accounts preparation and basic tax principles

- Some audit exposure would be an advantage (but not essential)

- Excellent communication and time management skills

- Self-motivated and able to work both independently and as part of a team
