About You

- Confidence using multiple systems and tools to manage your work efficiently
Key Responsibilities
The primary role of the Insurance Officer is processing claims made against Council. Claims can include damage from Council trees and trucks, personal injury, water flow and professional liability. You will investigate incidents, draft correspondence, and advocate for settlements in the best interest of the Council. You will also manage some Court claims assisting Council’s insurer and their lawyers. Additionally, you will coordinate the discovery process for litigated claims and manage Freedom of Information requests.
As part of the Risk and Assurance team of Council’s Governance and Legal Department, the role also assists with:
- Crisis management coordination
- Maintaining Council’s Business Continuity Plans
- Implementing and managing Council's Risk Management Framework and enterprise risk register
- Council’s insurance renewal program
- Fraud and corruption control in Council
