Position Information
Maclean Public School is located on proud Yaegl Country on the North Coast of NSW. Maclean Public School currently has 200 students, 28% identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander, with anticipated enrolment in 2026 of 205. The school fosters strong connections with the local community and offers programs that emphasise differentiated learning and community engagement. The school aims to develop Yaegl Languages and cultural engagement and will establish its first multi-categorical (MC) support class at the start of the 2026 school year.
Specific Selection Criteria
Approval to teach. In addition to the general selection criteria,
1. A highly visible, passionate and innovative leader committed to building relationships and an inclusive school culture that improves student and staff wellbeing and performance.
2. Lead excellence in effective classroom practice to sustain improved outcomes for all students.
3. Proven experience to consult and partner with the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, families and stakeholders to support improved community connections and future student opportunities.
4. A deep understanding of data use to inform decisions impacting individual students and whole school performance.
5. Strong capacity to develop and lead programs that promote student voice, participation and engagement across academic, cultural, sporting and community contexts.
General Selection Criteria
1. High level educational leadership with the skills to lead and manage a complex public school focused on the delivery of high quality education
2. Ability to lead and manage rigorous and inclusive whole school teaching and learning programs
3. High level communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build positive relationships and engage all levels of the school and educational community
4. Ability to lead and manage the development and performance of staff to improve teaching and learning
5. Ability to plan systems and manage resources effectively and equitably to enhance teaching and learning
6. Capacity to lead staff in implementing the Department's Aboriginal education policy and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.

The classification and remuneration of our school principals is based on school complexity, as measured through each school’s RAM allocation. As part of the ongoing application of the new structure a review of thresholds and outcomes will occur on an annual basis. The principal classification for this school is Principal Level P1 for 2025 and also for 2026.
