The Role: Junior School English Coordinator

Full Time | Commencing January 2026 | 1-year tenure allowance (with ongoing teaching position)

Lead and inspire excellence in English across MLC’s Junior School. MLC is seeking an experienced and passionate educator to lead the delivery of English from Prep/Foundation to Year 6. This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and collaborative leader who is committed to evidence-based practice, innovative teaching, and improving student outcomes through data-informed approaches and professional collaboration.

The Role

Reporting to the Head of Junior School, the Junior School English Coordinator provides strategic and pedagogical leadership in English, ensuring engaging and effective teaching and learning across all year levels.

As a key member of the Junior School Leadership Team, the Coordinator plays a vital role in shaping the strategic direction of English education, mentoring colleagues, and fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.

This position includes approximately 0.6FTE teaching and 0.4FTE leadership and coordination responsibilities.

About You

You are an accomplished educator and leader who is passionate about empowering students and colleagues to achieve their best. You bring:

- Proven leadership experience in English curriculum development and pedagogy, ideally within a Junior School setting.

- A deep understanding of evidence-based literacy practices and data-informed teaching.

- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a collaborative and reflective approach.

- The ability to mentor and build teacher capability through coaching and professional learning.

- Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise effectively.

- Appropriate teaching qualifications and current VIT registration. (Postgraduate qualifications in education or leadership are desirable.)
