Position Profile
This is an exceptional opportunity to join our team as Medical Co-Director for the Medical division. Reporting to the Executive Director PCH & Neonatology (PCHN), you will direct, evaluate, and manage services aligned with our strategic plan and guiding principles. You will steer the operation and sustainability of medical services, enable positive change, shape service development, and strengthen innovative models of care.
You will foster a highly collaborative partnership with the Medical & Nurse Co-Directors to navigate complex decision making and solve joint and craft-group issues. You will drive a cohesive service focused on high quality medical systems, practice, and efficient service delivery, responsive to patient needs now and in the future. You will support Heads of Department across medical specialties, facilitate growth, and promote departments to advance clinical care.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide effective medical leadership in clinical governance, safety, quality improvement, strategic planning, optimal resource allocation and reform, in collaboration with the Medical & Nurse Co-Directors and the executive team
- Mentor and support Heads of Department; foster collaboration across Clinicians and Departments for safe and effective patient and family care
- Manage clinical demand, workload, and workforce pressures; grow and sustain a highly skilled workforce
- Support development of advanced practice nursing roles and junior medical roles; promote evidence-based practice and research-driven clinical advancements
- Ensure safe, high-quality clinical practice and manage clinical and corporate risk; coordinate education and training for medical staff to meet accreditation standards
- Mentor staff; promote patient safety and family-centred care
- Ensure business continuity and emergency planning for the division
- Develop collaborative relationships with stakeholders across public/private sectors, universities, professional colleges and agencies; represent service goals positively
Qualifications & Experience
The ideal candidate will have prior experience in professional clinical leadership and managing clinical services in a large, complex acute health service. Eligibility for registration with the Medical Board of Australia is a requirement for this role.

About our Medical Department
Based at Perth Children/u2019s Hospital, our teams provide state-wide tertiary/quaternary level specialist care to children aged 0 years, encompassing inpatient units, outpatient clinics, and specialised services. We collaborate with other medical specialties, nursing and allied health professionals to diagnose, treat, and manage a wide spectrum of paediatric conditions. We are a teaching institution affiliated with medical schools, offering clinical placements and training programs. We participate in community outreach, health education, advocacy, and clinical trials and quality improvement initiatives.
