Darwin Private Hospital is seeking a Nurse Unit Manager to join our team. You will play a key role within this busy and dynamic inpatient environment to ensure our patients have a great experience during their care.

As a Nurse Unit Manager your responsibilities will include:

- You will work closely with Clinical Nurses and Educators as part of the Senior Leadership Team

- You will provide operational direction for DPH inpatient services to ensure efficient and effective management of the area and coordinate the delivery of nursing care that is evidence based.

- As the Nurse Unit Manager you will be accountable and responsible for the effective daily management of human, financial and material resources

- You will undertake direct patient care as required providing guidance and support to less experienced members of the nursing team.

Darwin Private Hospital is the only provider of private hospital services in the Northern Territory. As part of the Healthscope Group of Hospitals, it is a licenced 122 bed hospital providing a broad range of multiday and day surgery including, General Surgery, Orthopaedics, Gynaecology, Ophthalmology, Plastic and Reconstructive, Urology, Gastroenterology and ENT and Cardiac Catheter Laboratory.

In February 2021, a purpose built 18 bed inpatient Mental Health & AoD Unit, The Darwin Clinic, opened a new service for patients in the Northern Territory. It also incorporates a dedicated Day Rehabilitation Program.

Our world-class private hospital attracts patients from across the greater Northern Territory, Western Australia, remote aboriginal communities and even offshore. We are co-located with Royal Darwin Hospital and partner in delivering specialised care to patients from across the top end of Australia.

If you are successful in the role, you will receive a salary based on your years of relevant registered nursing experience against the current Healthscope and the Darwin Private Hospital - Nurses and Midwives - Enterprise Agreement - 2021-2024 ( $57.97 - $62.28 per hour)

Selection Criteria:

- Current Registration with AHPRA

- Working with Children check

- Nursing experience greater than 5 years

- Experience in the Acute setting

- Compliance with ACQSHC National standards

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills

- A strong commitment to developing in a management role

- A commitment to a high standard of clinical and customer-focused care

- Ability to work cohesively within a team environment

- Proven time management and prioritisation skills

- Demonstrate a sound knowledge base in labour management

- Demonstrated HR management experience

- Previous experience at NUM level

- A Post Graduate or Management degree or working towards
