Fuel Logistics Operator
Department: Haulage
Employment Type: Permanent
Location: Tamworth
Description
Commitment to innovation and a drive to do things differently have seen Greenergy grow from a bedroom start-up to become a world leader in waste-based renewables, and the UK’s leading fuel supplier. We endeavour to approach the status quo of an established industry with fresh eyes, and empower our people to develop and to deliver change through innovation. Our values underpin every interaction we have, whether with colleagues, customers, suppliers and the communities in which we operate. It is these values of Respect, Ownership, Care and Integrity that have delivered our growth as a business and developed strong customer relationships.
This role is part of Greenergy Flexigrid, the logistics powerhouse behind Greenergy. Based in Tamworth, our hub is the beating heart of the operation, delivering fuel safely and on time across the UK, 24/7. We are a fast-paced, high-energy team that works together, tackles challenges head-on, and gets things done. We’re looking for switched-on team members who want to make a real impact in logistics.
The Role: Fuel Logistics Operator — you’ll be right at the heart of making sure fuel gets delivered on time, every time. You’ll plan deliveries, communicate with drivers and the team, and help fix any problems that come up, all while keeping customers happy.
This role is perfect if you like staying organised, enjoy helping others, and want to learn new skills in a fast-moving, supportive environment. No worries if you don’t have logistics experience, we’ll train you and show you the ropes.
You’ll work a 4 on, 4 off shift pattern from 6am to 6pm, with weekends worked on a rota basis — so not every weekend. This means you’ll get 4 days off in a row to fully recharge.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and manage delivery schedules so fuel arrives on time
- Talking to drivers and the team to keep everything running smoothly
- Handling any delivery questions or last-minute changes like route swaps or delays
- Ordering fuel and making sure all the details are correct before loading
- Sharing updates with teammates and other departments so everyone’s on the same page
- Supporting customers by answering their questions and sorting out issues
- Jumping into action calmly if there’s an emergency like a spill or unexpected problem
- Taking on any other tasks that help the team and keep operations running smoothly
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
You’ll love this role if you:
- Are comfortable with Microsoft Office and eager to learn new systems
- Enjoy a fast-paced job where no two days are the same
- Communicate well and stay calm under pressure
- Like solving problems and making quick decisions
- Want to grow a career in a growing, exciting industry
What we’re looking for:
- Strong communication skills and confident working with different people
- Good problem-solving abilities and able to stay calm when things get busy
- Experience in logistics, transport, or customer service is helpful but not essential
- Able to multitask and stay organised in a fast-paced environment
- Basic knowledge of UK geography to support delivery planning
- Comfortable using Microsoft Word, Outlook, Teams, and Excel — training provided
What you’ll get in return:
- Full training and ongoing support
- Inclusive, friendly team
- Opportunities for career growth in a fast-expanding company
- Modern workspace in Tamworth with free parking facilities
- Free snacks both healthy and indulgent, posh coffee, team socials, wellness programs, and other great benefits as listed in the next section
Benefits
- Competitive compensation: Enjoy a competitive salary, enhanced by a discretionary bonus scheme that rewards both business and individual performance.
- Private medical insurance: Prioritise your health with comprehensive private medical insurance, including access to online GP services from AXA for you and your family.
- Enhanced company pension: Secure your future with enhanced company pension contributions that support your long-term financial goals.
- Cycle to work scheme: Embrace a sustainable lifestyle with our cycle to work scheme.
- Season ticket loan: Spread the cost of your commute and take advantage of annual discounts with an interest free season ticket loan.
- Volunteering and charity: We encourage you to give back to the community through volunteering days and charitable initiatives.
- Global travel insurance: Travel with peace of mind, courtesy of worldwide multi-trip travel insurance coverage for you and your family.
- Employee discount platform: Access exclusive discounts through our employee discount platform.
- Enhanced parental leave: Generous maternity and paternity pay to support you and your family when you need it most.
Greenergy are proud to be an equal opportunities employer and we are committed to equality of opportunity for all staff. We believe that diversity and inclusion among our colleagues is critical to our success as a global company. Employment at Greenergy is based solely on a person's merit and qualifications directly related to professional competence.
