Primary Purpose of the Role: As a Senior Engineering Specialist (Communications), you will oversee the technical implementation, sustainment, and ongoing enhancement of aerodrome communication systems within our platform portfolio. This includes voice switching platforms, telecommunications, dispatch consoles, camera systems, and other aerodrome systems that support communication, control, and monitoring for air traffic control operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and support systems throughout their lifecycle, ensuring compliance with safety and management policies.
- Apply systems engineering principles in planning, design, implementation, and testing of new and upgraded systems.
- Manage technology change processes, configuration management, and risk tracking.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance, including safety and security considerations.
- Prepare technical documentation, test plans, and performance reports.
- Investigate and resolve complex system issues, ensuring system reliability and maintainability.
- Maintain awareness of industry standards, emerging technologies, and best practices.
- Promote safety behaviours, participate in hazard reviews, and ensure compliance with safety policies.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Information Technology from an accredited institution.
- Eligibility for registration as a Professional Engineer (e.g., RPEQ).
- Proven experience in systems engineering, telecommunications system design, testing, and implementation.
- Demonstrated stakeholder and vendor management skills.
- Strong documentation skills with experience in solution architecture and system design.
- Desirable: Knowledge of Information Security Manual (ISM) principles and controls.
Skills & Competencies:
- Extensive experience in systems development, design, and testing at a high level
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a high-performing team.
