The Role
As Engineering Team Lead, you'll be responsible for guiding a team of 5-8 software engineers to deliver world-class software solutions. You will set the standard for technical excellence, embed modern Agile ways of working, and champion best practices across quality, security, and scalability.
Your leadership will focus on developing your team's capabilities, improving delivery processes, and partnering closely with internal stakeholders to ensure commitments are met on time and within budget. You'll also play a key role in translating business objectives into actionable engineering priorities that delight customers and improve profitability.
Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and coach a team of software engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration and high performance.
- Oversee delivery of software solutions, ensuring quality and timeliness across all releases.
- Drive adoption of Agile practices and continuously improve ways of working.
- Partner with Delivery and Product Managers to prioritise and plan workloads effectively.
- Implement strategies to optimise operational efficiency and enhance team productivity.
- Champion technical innovation, quality, and security across the engineering group.
- Engage directly with customers where required to understand needs and influence outcomes.
Key Selection Criteria
- Proven track record leading software engineering teams (5+ engineers) in a commercial environment.
- Strong technical background with exposure to multiple programming languages or frameworks (any specific stack experience is a bonus).
- Expertise in Agile delivery, including facilitation of ceremonies and backlog management.
- Exceptional stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to influence and drive change.
- Passion for developing people, building capability, and supporting career growth.
- Commercial mindset - able to align technical outcomes with business objectives.
