Full Time Telecommunication Technician
Salary range is $76,000 - $85,000

SUMMARY
To install, test, and maintain data and telecom cabling in commercial settings. Diagnose faults, read technical drawings, and ensure work meets Australian standards and WHS regulations. Using specialized tools to verify system performance and work closely with clients and team members to meet compliance and customer requirements.


DUTIES

Technical Duties
• Installing, terminating, and testing data and telecommunications cabling in both commercial and residential environments
• Maintaining and servicing telecommunications systems and equipment, including fault diagnosis and rectification
• Reading and interpreting technical drawings and documentation
• Working in accordance with Australian industry standards, including WHS (Work Health and Safety) regulations
• Liaising with clients and team members to ensure installations meet customer requirements and compliance standards
• Using tools and testing equipment to verify the integrity and performance of installations

Financial Duties

• Use materials and plant efficiently to minimise waste.
• Record and report job progress accurately.
• Support timely completion of works within budget.
• Successful outcome: Work is delivered cost-effectively with accurate reporting supporting project financial performance.

• Comply with all safety procedures, inductions, and site rules.
• Identify and report hazards, incidents, and near misses.
• Safely operate equipment and ensure PPE is used correctly.
• Successful outcome: A safe worksite is maintained, with zero harm to self, team, or public. Zero workplace incidents.

Other
• Complete site paperwork and compliance checks using iPad/software.
• Liaise respectfully with team members, supervisors, and clients.
• Undertake training and development as required.
• Successful outcome: Administrative tasks are accurate and timely, supporting smooth project delivery.


Required Qualifications and Skills:
• Trade qualification in Telecommunications Technology, Electronics, or a related discipline (e.g., Certificate III or IV level or equivalent).
• Minimum of one year’s hands-on experience in the installation, commissioning, and integration of telecommunications technologies across multiple providers.
• Proven expertise in mobile telecommunications systems, with a focus on equipment fit-outs and fibre optic installation.
• Sound knowledge of microwave technologies and the commissioning of telecommunications systems.
• Strong understanding of hybrid and RF (radio frequency) plumbing principles and standards.
• Familiarity with carrier build and installation standards, including Optus, NBN/Wireless, VHA, and Telstra.
• High proficiency in using telecommunications test equipment, such as PIM analyzers, fibre testers, antenna systems, and Ethernet testing tools.
• Demonstrated ability to read and interpret technical construction drawings, plans, and spreadsheets.
• Strong computer literacy, with intermediate to advanced skills in standard software and technical applications.
• Excellent attention to detail, with a consistent focus on quality assurance, safety, and environmental compliance.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work both collaboratively and independently.
• Valid Construction Industry White Card.
• Current and valid Driver’s Licence.
• Desirable but not essential:
o Working at Heights and Tower Rescue Certificate
o RF Hazard Awareness Training
