Your role

We are seeking a Senior Finance Analyst you’ll play a pivotal role in delivering its assigned accountability within Aboriginal Housing Office’s (AHO) overall management reporting, budgeting and financial reporting processes and enable the AHO to achieve budget performance and compliance with policies, statutory requirements and external regulators.

This role offers an exciting opportunity develop strategic ideas to develop our systems, processes and reporting to enable high standards of financial analysis and improve AHO financial analysis knowledge and usage.

What you’ll do

- Manage the provision of financial analysis, tracking, management reporting and forecasting for the AHO Strategic Plan, asset management plans and programs, operational budgets, cash flow and asset investment management to meet requirements for Treasury, the AHO Board and Executive

- Review budget performance and provide reporting and analysis specific to the team’s role in AHO’s end-to-end financial planning, budgeting, forecasting and reporting functions, to understand and optimise the whole of AHO’s financial position

- Generate strategic insights and reports that support the business to optimise its financial position, protocols and internal processes

- Educate relevant business areas to develop financial capability and improve confidence and accountability in financial business decision making, which promotes a consistent financial management approach across the AHO

- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders including senior managers and service delivery divisions to exchange information, obtain cooperation and support and provide financial advice

What we’re looking for

The essential requirements of this role are:

- CA/CPA or working towards completion

- Tertiary qualifications in Commerce or Finance or Economics and/or equivalent knowledge, skills and experience with demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development

In addition to the essential requirements, the successful candidate will have:

- A high level of autonomy in setting own priorities, and those of any staff/project staff supervised, in alignment with management

- Work experience involving GST and/or insurance

- Strong ability to manage quality control in the implementation of your own and any staff supervised, workload

- Detailed and current knowledge of the Australian Accounting Standards, Treasury Directions and the Public Finance and Audit Act

- Ability to consult on a suitable course of action in matters that are sensitive, high-risk or business-critical, or for those issues that have far reaching implications with respect to resources or quality advice provision
