Job Description

Location and project context: Currently, this position is located in our project office in Sydney CBD, with occasional site visits. Once the project is fully operational, it will transition to a 14/7 roster-based arrangement out of the Central West Orana Region.

About COBRA and ACEREZ: COBRA promotes its own efficient business model with more than 20,000 professionals in more than 43 countries, offering a wide range of services across the project value chain. ACEREZ, a partnership of ACCIONA, COBRA and Endeavour Energy, has been appointed network operator by EnergyCo to design, build, finance, operate and maintain the Central-West Orana Renewable Energy Zone (REZ) transmission network. The ACCIONA COBRA Joint Venture (ACJV) will design and build the Central-West Orana REZ transmission project. The new transmission network will deliver at least 4.5 gigawatts of new capacity from 2028 to connect 7.7 gigawatts of wind and solar projects, powering more than 2 million homes annually.

Senior Quality Engineer – Central-West Orana Project

We are seeking a dedicated Senior Quality Engineer to join our growing Quality team. In this role, you will ensure the project meets specified quality standards by developing and updating all necessary quality assurance documents, work closely with Site Engineers to ensure timely project completion, prepare for quality audits, and train employees on AS/NZS ISO 9001:2008 requirements.

Key Responsibilities

- Develop, implement, and monitor the Project’s Quality Management Plan, including ITPs and ITCs that reflect client requirements.
- Ensure ITPs & ITCs are completed to a high standard across all projects and manage the systematic opening, monitoring, and closing of work lots.
- Conduct detailed assessments of products and components at various production stages and oversee fabrication processes by the company and subcontractors to meet client specifications.
- Perform quality audits across projects, fabrication facilities, and supplier facilities, maintaining the project’s quality audit schedule.
- Liaise with the client’s quality department, attend weekly QA coordination meetings, and provide ongoing reporting on project quality issues.
- Investigate quality defects, implement corrective actions, and report to management, assisting the Project Manager with quality reporting in the Monthly Report.
- Provide ongoing support and training to project teams and production employees, promoting best practices and compliance with company policies, guidelines, and procedures.
- Develop and monitor continuous improvement programs, select quality inspection tools and software, and review statistical data to identify and eliminate quality problems.

Required Skills and Competencies

- 8 years’ experience in Quality Management/Engineering or Project Management, operating in the Construction Environment.
- Experience in systems orientated Mechanical and Electrical work and the commissioning aspects of Electrical work would be an advantage.
- Holds professional membership (Chartered Quality Institute) or working towards this level.
- A good understanding of Risk Management processes would be advantageous.
