About the role
The successful applicant will join a comprehensive mental health service delivering a wide range of treatment and care to a population of approximately 265,000. Services include acute inpatient and community care, emergency and consultation-liaison services, aged care, child and youth mental health, rehabilitation, residential support, intensive inpatient care, and early psychosis programs. Multidisciplinary teams – comprising psychiatrists, psychiatric nurses, social workers, occupational therapists, psychologists, and administrative staff – work collaboratively to provide high-quality, person‑centred care to individuals and their families.
In this role, you will be primarily based in a 35‑bed inpatient unit, responsible for the clinical management and treatment of adults with complex mental health needs. You will be supported by junior medical officers and work closely with adult and older persons’ mental health teams. The role also includes outpatient work, such as post‑discharge follow‑up and continuity of care.
A key aspect of the role is fostering collaborative relationships with stakeholders to support effective implementation of mental health resources and ensure evidence‑based care. You will also participate in weekly training and education programs for psychiatrists and trainees and assist the Clinical Director in developing and maintaining clinical standards across inpatient and community services.
