Short-term Harvest Multi-combination Truck Driver

The Role

Our client is a fourth-generation, family-owned agricultural business that manages 5,000 hectares of broadacre cropping, including barley, oats, and canola. We are seeking two MC truck drivers for the upcoming harvest season, scheduled to begin around the second week of November and last for approximately two months.

The position involves operating modern Volvo trucks, specifically the Volvo 700 automatic and the Volvo 610 manual, with road train setups to transport grain from various paddocks out of field bins to silos on our property, as well as to CBH and Bunge handling facilities. You will be required to load the truck yourself after completing the necessary training and instruction.

Deliveries to CBH will require you to download an app onto your mobile phone. This app allows you to enter paddock and commodity details and to accept various grades as needed. For deliveries to our silos, you will need to operate and move a self-propelled auger to the next silo when required. The augers and trucks are equipped with cameras to facilitate this process, and these cameras can be linked to your phone for more effortless operation.

At times, you may also be asked to assist in moving other machinery, such as Utes, trailers, and chaser bins, to the next paddock.

You will be expected to:

- Maintain the truck in a reasonably clean condition
- Fuel the truck with diesel and AdBlue on the farm as required
- Complete a daily service check of both the truck and auger when in use
- Keep the fatigue management paperwork up to date inside the truck

The work schedule consists of a 13-day consecutive fortnight, unless there are harvest bans, breakdowns, or weather-related issues. To track your hours worked, you will use an app that integrates with our accounting system, which allows you to record your hours and provides a copy for your own records.

The Offer

They offer accommodation for their seasonal employees and provide competitive pay of $55 per hour, plus a $50 per day meal allowance.

On-farm accommodation is available in a recently renovated queen room within a donga, featuring a shared modern ensuite and kitchenette. They are located 15 km from our local town site, which is well-equipped with a supermarket, pool, and various social venues.

The Ideal Candidate

A successful applicant must possess a current MC license and medical certificate. They should be able to follow directions diligently when working alone or with others, using information provided by their employer. Additionally, candidates should have the following attributes:

- High visual clothing is a requirement to enter the CBH receival sites and is preferred on farm, if you don't have your own high visual clothing, we will provide a vest
- Demonstrated reliability, honesty, and a strong work ethic; attention to detail, along with maintaining clean and organised work habits
- Clean driving history with no incidents related to drugs or alcohol
