Truck Driver

As a Truck Driver at AKAAL SAHAI FREIGHTLINES PTY LTD T/A ASF Transport , you will play a crucial role in our operations by safely and efficiently transporting goods to various destinations. You will be responsible for ensuring timely deliveries, maintaining vehicle integrity, and upholding the high standards of customer service that define our company.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

- Reviewing loading documents, inspecting the condition of goods, and obtaining delivery certification.
- Assessing weights to adhere to load limits and ensuring proper weight distribution for safe transport.
- Loading and unloading vehicles with the use of lifting and tipping mechanisms.
- Ensuring compliance with safety regulations during vehicle loading and unloading.
- Securing goods properly and covering them to prevent loss or damage during transit.
- Ensuring goods are stowed and securely covered to prevent loss and damage
- Maneuvering vehicles into position for loading and unloading.
- Conducting routine quality inspections of vehicles to confirm they are safe for operation.
- Using appropriate tools and equipment to handle goods safely and efficiently.
- Assist with minor vehicle repairs or coordinate with mechanics for servicing.
- Provide excellent customer service when interacting with clients, ensuring goods are delivered in the correct condition.
- Handle hazardous materials safely (if applicable) and comply with transport regulations.
- Making regular quality checks of vehicles to ensure they can be driven safely
- Estimating weights to comply with load limitations and ensuring safe distribution of weight verifying loading documents, checking condition of goods and obtaining certification of deliveries.
- Use GPS navigation and other route-planning tools to optimize delivery times.
- Stay updated on traffic laws, road conditions, and weather forecasts to ensure safe driving.
- Observing safety requirements when loading and unloading vehicles.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

- AQF Certificate II or III (ANZSCO Skill Level 4)
- Minimum 1 year of truck driving experience
- Be at least 21 years old for interstate driving or 18 for intrastate driving.
- Hold a valid standard driver’s license.
- Pass written knowledge tests covering road signs, safety regulations, and driving rules.
- Complete a practical driving test to demonstrate your ability to operate a truck safely.
- Pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical examination to ensure you are medically fit to drive.
- Undergo a background check, with a clean driving record and no serious criminal convictions.
- Acquire additional endorsements if necessary, such as for hazardous materials, tank vehicles, or multiple trailers.
- Meet vision and hearing requirements and be free from medical conditions that could impair driving ability.
- Consider attending a truck driving school for specialized training and preparation for the CDL tests.
