This is more than just a management role; it's an opportunity to be at the forefront of significant change, driving excellence and innovation in aged care.

The aged care sector is undergoing a profound transformation with the implementation of the new, strengthened Aged Care Quality Standards and the heightened focus on creating truly psychosocially safe environments for both residents and staff. We are looking for a leader who not only understands these critical shifts but is energised by the challenge of embedding them into our everyday operations.

About the Role

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer (COO), you will be responsible for the overall operational management of our Oberon facility. This encompasses a broad range of responsibilities, including:

- Championing High-Quality, Resident-Centred Care: Your core commitment will be to ensure every decision, every policy, and every action prioritises the well‑being and individual needs of our residents. You'll foster a culture where dignity, respect, and personal choice are at the heart of everything we do, ensuring services are not just compliant, but exceed expectations in providing truly person‑centred, high‑quality care.

- Leading a Culture of Compliance & Excellence: Championing the successful implementation and ongoing adherence to the new, strengthened Aged Care Quality Standards (coming into effect November 2025). You will ensure our services are not just compliant, but exceed expectations in providing person‑centred, high‑quality care.

- Creating a Psychosocially Safe Environment: Developing and embedding practices that foster a culture of respect, dignity, psychological safety, and well‑being for both our cherished residents and our valuable staff. This includes understanding and addressing psychosocial hazards in the workplace.

- Team Leadership & Development: Inspiring, mentoring, and developing a multidisciplinary team of dedicated professionals. You will foster a collaborative and supportive work environment where every team member feels valued, heard, and empowered to deliver their best.

- Operational Management: Overseeing all aspects of facility operations, including budget management, resource allocation, maintenance, WHS, risk management, and ensuring the physical environment is safe, clean, well‑maintained, and conducive to resident well‑being.

- Stakeholder Engagement: Building strong relationships with residents, their families, staff, and external stakeholders, ensuring open communication and responsiveness to feedback.

- Continuous Improvement: Driving a culture of continuous improvement, actively seeking opportunities to enhance our services and processes in line with best practice and the evolving regulatory landscape.

About You

You are a visionary leader with a proven track record in aged care management, ready to embrace the complexity and rewards of this evolving sector. Specifically, you will possess:

- Demonstrated experience as a Facility Manager or in a senior leadership role within a residential aged care setting (experience with a 90+ bed facility highly regarded).

- In‑depth understanding of the new Aged Care Act 2024 and the strengthened Aged Care Quality Standards, with a proactive approach to their implementation.

- A strong grasp of the principles and practical application of creating a psychosocially safe environment for residents and staff, including an understanding of WHS obligations regarding psychosocial hazards.

- Exceptional leadership, people management, and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and empower a diverse team.

- Strong financial acumen and experience in budget management.

- A commitment to person‑centred care and a genuine passion for enhancing the lives of older Australians.

- Excellent problem‑solving, decision‑making, and organisational abilities.
