Communications Technician - Permanent Full Time – South Metro Depot

We have an exciting opportunity for a Communications Technician to join our team on a Permanent Full Time basis. This role is based at our brand-new state-of-the-art South Metro Depot in Forrestdale, conveniently located next to Tonkin Highway. Spanning across 120,000 square meters, the depot features the latest infrastructure and technology to support a balanced and inclusive workplace.

Your Role in Action

- Provide technical expertise, tactical support, and assistance to the SCADA & Communications Systems teams for the planning, design, installation, and commissioning of Western Power’s and Customer SCADA & Communications Systems.
- Be customer focused and take a whole-of-company view in keeping with the company’s values, codes, and standards.
- Be a team player and a role model to less experienced Communications Technicians.
- Be innovative and use appropriate technology to improve and manage the Communications Networks.

What Makes You a Great Fit

- Cert III in Electrotechnology / Electronics / Telecommunications or equivalent Trade Certificate.
- Preferably 1 to 2 years technical experience in the SCADA or Telecommunications industry.
- Knowledge of SCADA & Telecommunications installation, commissioning, maintenance and operations field practices and procedures.
- Prior project, contract and maintenance management systems and tools experience.
- The Communications Technician would be required when experienced to be able to attend to faults after normal working hours and to be part of a roster system shared between experienced Communications Technicians.
- Knowledge of engineering standards, regulations, and procedures.
- Good interpersonal and team skills.
- MS Office systems, Word, Excel & or Access. MIMS and scheduling/work management systems.
