Overview
At Paire, we design everyday essentials with elevated comfort, thoughtful function, and a deep commitment to sustainability. As we expand into wireless bras and underwear, we’re seeking an experienced Freelance Garment Technician to help bring this new category to life — working closely with our Design Lead from concept development through to production.
Working closely with our Design Lead, you’ll manage the technical development of our wireless bras and underwear range — ensuring every style delivers precision fit, lasting comfort, and production efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Translate design sketches into clear technical specification sheets, advising on best practices for construction, fit, and fabric application.
- Prepare and review samples ahead of fittings — checking measurements, verifying factory specs, assessing workmanship, and making amendments as needed.
- Lead fit sessions with the Design Lead, offering technical advice and proposing construction solutions.
- Process fit comments and communicate clear instructions to offshore suppliers — including annotated photos, diagrams, or videos.
- Liaise with suppliers daily to troubleshoot fit issues and workshop production-friendly methods.
- Maintain consistent garment measurements, grading, and workmanship across styles and factories.
- Define and manage grading rules and tolerances specific to bras and underwear.
- Identify and flag potential production or delivery issues at the PP stage, collaborating with the Design Lead and broader team.
- Review product returns and ensure recurring concerns are addressed.
- Maintain clear records of all PP samples and reference garments.
Qualifications
- 5+ years experience as a Garment Technician, with expertise in wireless bras, briefs, and stretch intimates.
- In-depth technical knowledge of fit, fabric performance (stretch and recovery), and lingerie construction.
- Experience working with offshore suppliers and resolving production challenges.
- Strong communication and documentation skills — both written and visual.
- Detail-oriented, methodical, and confident in a fast-paced environment.
- Comfortable working independently while thriving in close collaboration with a small team.
- Based in Melbourne or able to attend fittings in person.
